Small B&B keen to promote green tourism

White Lodge is a family run B&B in the historic town of Battle – 1066 Country.

It offers a choice of two ground floor en suite rooms. The first has a double and a single bed while the other has a double bed. They both have TV, alarm clock radio, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and light snacks. There is also wireless internet access.

Breakfast is served in the sunroom or dining room overlooking the garden and swimming pool.
 

GREEN CREDENTIALS                                                                                                

White Lodge says it is keen to promote green tourism and has received a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award.

To save energy low energy light bulbs, thermostatic radiator valves, double glazing and 8" thick loft insulation have been fitted. Solar heating is used to provide hot water and heat the swimming pool.

To conserve water Hippos have been fitted in toilet systems, there are water butts and the flower beds have been covered in bark to reduce the need for watering.

There is an environmental policy for towels and where possible environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. Waste is recycled and recycled paper, envelopes and toilets rolls are used.

Where possible organic, free range and locally grown food are bought and 

vegetables grown. At least 60% of breakfast ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal.
