Refurbished Victorian villa with a strong environmental commitment

This is a recently refurbished, detached Victorian Villa dating back to 1864 and retaining many of its original features. Villa Marina is close to Torquay’s town centre, seafront, harbour, Riviera Centre, Princess Theatre and Torre Abbey. The resort is located in the heart of the English Riviera, a perfect base for exploring the beautiful countryside and coastline of South Devon.

The 5 en-suite bedrooms are tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished with facilities including LCD-TV with Freeview, free wireless Internet access, alarm clock, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and a hospitality tray.

There is a choice of traditional English breakfast or a lighter option and special dietary requirements can be catered for. Evening meals are also available. Guests can relax in the garden room or, on warmer days, in the secluded south facing garden.

GREEN CREDENTIALS                                                                                                

Villa Marina boasts a strong environmental commitment with its membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the Considerate Hoteliers Association and the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust.

Where possible, low energy, long life light bulbs are used both outdoors and indoors. A rated appliances have been installed for cooking, washing and cleaning and they are not left on standby.

To save water all en-suite and private bathrooms only have shower facilities and there are several water butts around the property. There is a guests’ towel policy to reduce the changing frequency. Environmentally friendly cleaning materials are used where possible.

The proprietors support the local economy and reduce food miles by buying locally and also buy in bulk to reduce packaging - there are refillable soap & shampoo dispensers in all guest rooms. They recycle all glass, cardboard, cans/tins, newspapers/magazines, plastic bottles, printer and fax toners. There is a recycling bin for guests and a compost bin in the garden for food waste.   Other initiatives in hand include plans to improve insulation in the loft and by replacing all windows and doors.
