Self catering cottages with sustainable features on an organic smallholding
DESCRIPTION
The Stones Courtyard is set on an 18 acre smallholding on Strumble Head in North Pembrokeshire, West Wales. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with magnificent coastal path walks and a delight for ornithologists and seal watchers. There are views across windswept fields towards the coast approximately 2 miles away.
There are two adjoining self-contained cottages converted from 18th century stone barns and each sleeps four in two separate bedrooms with en suite bathroom/ wet room. The cottages . have comfortable sitting and dining areas and are fully equipped with kitchen, log burning stove, flat screen TV with digital freeview, DVD player and stereo.
Guests are welcome to wander the land and say hello to the alpacas and goats that also live there, and maybe even have a go at milking a goat.
There is a shared landscaped garden with seating, private car parking and a shed for cycles and other storage.
GREEN CREDENTIALS
The cottages have been converted using traditional and environmentally friendly building methods to create a peaceful and soothing living space. Owners Dot and Brian Jackson have used lime mortars and vegetable based paints, varnishes and natural materials. All bed linens and towels are provided and all are made from organic cotton.
The water for the cottages comes from a bore hole and is clean and fresh and has been tested safe for drinking. A solar water heating system is used for hot water and each cottage has a log burning stove for heat. Green electricity is used to power the low energy lighting and energy efficient appliances are used throughout.
The Jacksons also run Sustainable Garden Design Courses on either a non residential basis or with a fully catered residential option and provide home cooked organic food, much of it sourced from their own gardens and nearby organic farms.
