Shank Wood Log Cabin is situated amongst 140 acres of picturesque privately owned ancient woodland in the remote north east of Cumbria, close to the Scottish border.

It is sited in the middle of a 2 mile beat of the Lyne valley, a major tributary of the Border Esk, with 11 pools to swim and fish in. There is a resident population including brown trout and salmon and visiting sea trout.

The log cabin sleeps up to 4 people with split-level, open self catering accommodation and has been equipped to a high standard in keeping with the unspoilt surroundings.

 GREEN FEATURES

The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the cabin has been designed to work in conjunction with nature as much as possible.

Lighting is provided by solar power, facilities by a continental style peat toilet, and heating by a clean burn wood burner. Cooking is with the large weber BBQ and there are no fridge facilities – the river keeps things cool. A water dispenser provides drinking, cooking and washing water.

This is the ultimate back to nature experience!
