Old Repeater Station

Grindon, Northumberland, near Hadrian’s Wall

B&B minimising its environmental impact

 DESCRIPTION

The Old Repeater Station is situated within Northumberland National Park, a stretch of stunning countryside. It is in the village of Grindon, just under 30 miles from Carlisle and Newcastle upon Tyne and very near one of the country’s greatest Roman landmarks, Hadrian’s Wall.

This bed and breakfast is housed in a large detached stone building which was converted in 2004 by owner/manager Les Gibson from a former British Telecom site. There are 5 bedrooms with a choice of bunk or en suite twin rooms.

Continental breakfast is included with a full English cooked breakfast at a modest supplement. Dinner is available if pre-booked.

There is a guest sitting room with TV, radio and DVD player, books, maps and guides plus a garden with views over Sewingshield Crags.

 GREEN FEATURES

At the Old Repeater Station they are committed to conducting the business and working practices in a way that minimises their environmental impact.

The property makes extensive use of eco / green technology including geothermal heating, solar heating and wood burning stoves.

It is energy efficient, waste is monitored and recycled appropriately, eco-friendly products are used and local goods and services are purchased wherever possible.

All staff are trained in environmental procedures and wildlife is supported and maintained by feeding birds, not using insecticides or chemicals and tending the gardens and grounds in a natural way.
