DESCRIPTION

Old Chapel Forge is located in the beautiful Sussex countryside surrounded by fantastic views of the Downs and minutes from the historical city of Chichester.

The house and chapel date back to 1611. The chapel is a beautiful flint and stone building within the garden and was possibly last used as a place of worship in 1847.

All the rooms are en suite and come equipped with TV & DVD player, CD/Radio alarm, tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities, small drinks fridge and hairdryer. Some are in the converted chapel and a cottage in the grounds with their own front doors; some can accommodate families; and some have 30ft vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and private gardens.

Breakfast is served in a large farmhouse kitchen or in the garden weather permitting and special diets are catered for. While dinner is not available supper trays with fresh ingredients in season can be delivered to your room and packed lunches can also be ordered.

 GREEN FEATURES

The proprietors, Sandra Barnes-Keywood and her husband, have coined the slogan “Green Tourism – a philosophy not a product” to reflect the way they run Old Chapel Forge. Since 2001 they have renovated it and increased room numbers as a totally sustainable build project.

They have installed solar water heating, low energy lighting, grey water recycling, green power tariffs, water efficient bathroom systems, rain water harvesting together with tree planting schemes to offset carbon emissions. Bat boxes and bird feeders have been installed to encourage wildlife.

They aim to use only environmentally friendly products and they support local suppliers of organic fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. The business is actively involved in promoting green tourism by being involved with various local action groups.

Old Chapel Forge has received a Gold award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme and was named joint winner of the first-ever Green Tourism Award in the prestigious Tourism ExSEllence Awards 2006 for the South East.
