Lasswade is situated in a semi rural position on the edge of Llanwrtyd Wells which ranks as the smallest town in Britain.

It is privately run by Roger and Emma Stevens who aim to provide good service and warm hospitality along with helping the environment, and extensive use of organic produce.

This is a homely and comfortable Edwardian country house, built in 1904 and with stunning views. All 8 rooms are en-suite and have clock radio, TV, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryers.

Good quality gourmet food is the cornerstone. Breakfast is served in the Conservatory overlooking the Cambrian mountains while dinner is available in the elegant, regency, candlelit dining room with menus written on a daily basis. In fact the restaurant has received several accolades – an AA rosette, and listings in the Good Food Guide and Dining out in Wales.

There is also a sauna, and assistance with arranging activities such as fishing, walking, trekking and mountain biking, making it a great place to relax and unwind.

GREEN CREDENTIALS                                                                                                

The hotel has published its environmental policy and says it will ensure all employees are made aware of it and instructed on the potential environmental effects of their activities and the benefits of improved performance.

It has a green purchasing policy. It provides organic produce where available and never knowingly uses genetically modified ingredients or products. From the outset much of its food has been sourced from small local producers with good husbandry and a sympathetic organic policy. Many are visited by Roger, who has cooked professionally for most of his life. A proportion of vegetables are grown organically when in season.

It says it does all it can to reduce waste; re-use waste components where possible; recover or recycle those fractions of the waste stream where an outlet is available; and dispose of final wastes by the most environmentally suitable means.

Lasswade adopts responsible energy management through reduced consumption and greater efficiency and encourages the use of public transport.
