Its 238 rooms and suites are fully equipped with amenities expected of a first class hotel. All staff are trained in Responsible Business, and each department receives monthly job-specific training to reduce environmental impact.
It has substantially reduced electricity usage and the volume of waste to landfill and has increased purchasing of Fair Trade items and of organic products. Further goals include reductions in usage of water usage, natural gas and linen.
The hotel offers guests and meeting delegates the opportunity to offset their carbon emissions and itself also provides a complimentary offsetting service for all meetings and events in the hotel.
The hotel has received a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme and from Keep Edinburgh Clean.
