green holidays made easier
Eco Retreats are romantic eco break in individually designed Native American style tipis. These are conical tent shaped structures strong enough to withstand fierce storms and capable of providing a comfortable shelter all year round.
The site is in the heart of one of the U.K.'s largest forests and close to Cadair Idris, one of Wales' highest mountains and the fantastic beaches of Aberdyfi and Ynys Las.
The tipis are spacious and well spaced out for maximum privacy and equipped with all the creature comforts. Each is furnished with double bed, cushions, sheepskin rugs and a central wood burning Mexican “chimnea”. There is a gas stove for cooking, with pans, crockery and cutlery. Also, each tipi has its own washing and toilet unit with shower and basin nearby.
A typical break is for two nights and includes holistic therapies, mountain and beach walks and a twilight meditation session. They are available between April and October.
Eco Retreats provides an experience of the natural world with an alternative approach to luxury.
The site is located on an organic farm and its traditional 21ft tipis are built from sustainable products in the style of the original structures inhabited by Native American Indians for centuries. These do not detract from the natural beauty of the landscape.
Wherever possible they use products in tune with the environment, from the locally made tipis to the organic produce in the welcome hampers.
Visits are arranged to the nearby Centre for Alternative Technology which aims to 'inspire, inform, and enable people to live more in a more sustainable way.
