Eco-Friendly Timeshare Lodgings

Environmentally friendly timeshare resales and rentals will allow you to enjoy your holiday while feeling good about your choice of accommodation. There are eco-friendly-focused resorts, like Cornwall's Trelowarren, which recycles, offsets carbon emissions, and uses on-site spring water and natural building materials; other big names in the timeshare/hospitality industry, such as Marriott and Hilton, have also implemented environmental initiatives. Get ready to enjoy your cost-effective, eco-friendly timeshare holidays! Click here to find out more.

Green check list

A guide to help hotels become environmentally friendly was launched in 2007 by the International Tourism Partnership with help from their members – most of the major international hotel groups.

Called “Going Green”, it is designed as a user-friendly tool with a list of practical steps that hotels should take to create a successful, sustainable business operation.

We think this could be very useful for green consumers too - as a check list to discover how a hotel is measuring up. So we obtained permission from the ITP to publish their guide in full. To see it click here

About this guide

HOW DO WE SELECT GREEN PLACES TO STAY?

When deciding what to list we look for all or some of the following:

• eco-friendly credentials
• personality, style and charm

We rely on our own professional research plus recommendations by other writers, hoteliers and guests. A number of the places listed have won environmental awards or belong to accreditation schemes. We have personally visited some, by prior arrangement, to discuss their environmental policies and practices and to tour the premises. These are indicated. We plan to visit more. Our visits are not inspections.

HOW IT WORKS

There are direct links to each accommodation provider’s own website so users can book directly or, where possible and if they wish, through links to alternative web based booking agencies.

Some of these links are to sites with which we are affiliated. If you click through to these sites or make a purchase from them this may result in us receiving a fee or commission. These links are clearly indicated with this symbol: +

There are many links to sites which do not pay us.

Any link or other information is only be included if we believe it is useful and reliable - not whether we are paid.
