Great Field Farm

Near Canterbury, Kent

B&B and Self Catering accommodation with a strong environmental commitment

 DESCRIPTION

Great Field Farm is situated along a quiet country lane, in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about eight miles south of the Cathedral City of Canterbury in Kent and about seven miles north of Folkestone. The farmhouse is set in forty acres including paddocks and pleasant south facing gardens.

It offers three en-suite rooms, two in the main farmhouse and one first floor suite in "the Cottage", next to the main farmhouse.

There is also a self-catering annexe flat comprising its own separate stair access, sitting room with colour TV, kitchen, double bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

“Sunset Lodge” is a 2 bedroom ground floor unit sleeping 4/5 available either on a self-catering basis or as bed and breakfast.

Breakfasts are a treat with our home produced seasonal fruits, jams and juices, served with a wide choice of cereals and yoghurts, followed by an AGA cooked breakfast normally comprising local sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, potato, fried bread and eggs from our own hens. Special dietary requests are welcomed.

 GREEN FEATURES

At Great Field Farm they are committed to minimising the environmental impact of their activities.   They recycle paper, magazines, junk mail, cardboard, glass, aluminium cans, steel cans, plastic bottles. Food and garden waste is composted and grass cuttings are used as mulch.

They use eco-friendly cleaning products and low energy light bulbs where possible. They have A rated appliances; double-glazing throughout with lowE argon filled units.
A fresh air and heat recovery system is fitted in the farmhouse and Sunset Lodge where heating and hot water are provided by a ground source heat pump.

There is a planting programme to encourage birds and butterflies into the garden and paddocks.

Their own organically grown raspberries and blackcurrants are offered at breakfast and other products are sourced locally. They provide local maps to encourage guests to walk or cycle and leave the car behind.

As part of a commitment to green tourism they are part of the scheme being carried out in the Kent Downs and have been given a Silver Award by the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
