Longleat Forest is the smallest of the four Center Parcs villages in the UK in terms of accommodation. It is set in 400 acres of woodland in a corner of the Marquis of Bath’s Longleat estate and near Warminster. During the 1960s and 1970s the area earned the reputation for the country’s highest recorded UFO and alien sightings with the phenomenon known as 'The Warminster Thing'.

The village opened in 1994 and has the same winning formula as the others - exceptional leisure facilities set in a stunning forest environment.

There are 713 well equipped one to four bedroom villas with various grades plus 60 one bedroom apartments. They are set in clusters among mature pines and zig-zag hillside paths and accommodate just under 4000 guests.

The village has 12 restaurants and bars and six shops, spread throughout three main centres. The Plaza is home to the Subtropical Swimming Paradise - with its outdoor rapids, flumes, swimming and spa pools, wave machine and lagoon - along with several restaurants, bars and shops.

The Village Square has more restaurants and the Jardin des Sports offers indoor and outdoor leisure activities. There is also a water sports lake.

The Roman-themed Aqua Sana spa features Finnish and Tyrolean saunas, a Turkish Hammam, Greek herbal bath, Japanese salt bath and Zen garden and much more besides.

 GREEN FEATURES

The Center Parcs concept – short breaks close to nature - was born out of the whole new environmental movement that began in Holland in the late 1960s. The company has since been hailed as a flagship for its environmental philosophy, policy and practice. As a result it has won numerous awards and accolades. In 1999 it became the first in the leisure industry to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation. This is among the world’s most respected environmental standards and helps organisations protect the environment, prevent pollution and improve their performance.

Less than 10% of any site is covered with roads and buildings and the forest wildlife and its environment are central to the guest’s experience. . It provides a habitat for 4 species of bat and badgers have been known to feed from villa patios close to their setts. Conservation Rangers organise a number of walks and bird watching activities around the Village

Like the other villages it has a biodiversity action plan aimed at protecting and, where practical, enhancing the forest and wildlife. New habitats there have helped increase the diversity of both flora and fauna. All this is independently audited.

There is a village Energy Group aiming to improve efficiency, reduce consumption, invest in efficient technology and, where feasible, sustainable forms of energy generation, decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.

New villas are constructed from sustainable timber. There is a ban on cars, encouraging guests to walk and cycle around the extensive network of paths and trails.
