DESCRIPTION

Canute Cottages has a superb setting with private water frontage on a secluded peninsular in Chichester Harbour, a corner of Sussex rich in wildlife and heritage and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There are four self catering cottages (three of which sleep 4-6, the other 2-4) grouped around the old farm courtyard. All are well furnished and feature a gentle ramp to front door; car port; open plan living/dining room, open to eaves with exposed beams; fully-fitted well-equipped kitchen; TV, CD radio-cassette, DVD player; non-allergic duvets and pillows; hairdryers; full central heating and electricity included; and wooden garden furniture with cushions.

In addition there is shared use of a laundry room; leisure barn with skittles, ping-pong, basket ball, ride on toys, and adjoining games field with football goal and climbing frame and swings; and private water frontage 700 metres away.

 GREEN FEATURES 

The owners, the Beale family, have been committed to good environmental practice since first coming to Cobnor in 1918. Over the decades, through partnerships with national and local organisations they have planted over a thousand trees, restored hedgerows and footpaths, and turned arable land back into precious coastal grazing fields and marsh. “We hope to delight, encourage and inspire our visitors,” they say.

They recycle paper, tins, plastic and glass bottles, batteries and silver foil; re-use office paper, plastic bags and farming bags; and try to keep refuse to a minimum.
Water butts are used to recycle rainwater for the garden.

Almost all stationery, toilet paper and kitchen roll is made from recycled paper. Environmental cleaning products are used where possible.

Their electricity is from the green supplier Ecotricity. Cobnor House has solar tubes for water heating. All appliances are “A” or “B” rated for energy efficiency. Thermostatic valves have been fitted on radiators, timers on outside lights, and “sava plugs” on fridges and freezers save energy. Wherever possible there are low-energy light bulbs.
