Small boutique hotel offering a “green tourism” experience DESCRIPTION Some call brightonwave a “boutique hotel”, some call it “hip”. As for the hotel, it says it prefers to focus on quality service to guests.
It occupies a Victorian building in a Regency terrace in central Brighton close to the sea, the pier, the conference centre and shopping and entertainment. There are just eight guest rooms, all en suite with double or king size beds. One has a four poster and balcony. They are sumptuously furnished in muted colours and come equipped with flat sceen tvs and DVD/CD players and wireless internet access.
Rates include a variety of breakfasts cooked to order (at weekends served between the very civilized times of 9.30-10.45) or continental breakfast in bed. GREEN CREDENTIALS brightonwave’s aim is to offer guests a “green tourism” experience and to provide good service whilst minimising the environmental impact of its activities. A symbol of this commitment is its membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
It says it recycles as much as possible; it monitors and adapts its energy use, and has purchased energy efficient electrical appliances. Building refurbishment has included fitting thermostatically controlled radiators and draft proofing all sash windows. It avoids wasting water and has a towel and bedding “protect” policy; and it has introduced fair trade products.
The hotel offers information on sightseeing and excursions by public transport, bike and on foot, and its website lists local firms and restaurants with environmentally friendly commitments.
